Google Sync makes my mobile life easier!

Well finally “Exchange for the rest of us” has arrived. Google announced their Sync app with support Mail, Calendar and Contacts!

I’ve been using Apple’s MobileMe on my iPhone since I first got my phone last year. It’s had a few hiccups but other than than It’s been great for keeping my personal life in sync. From my initial playing Google Sync was a breeze to set up and seems to work pretty much the same as MobileMe with regards to Mail, Calendar and Contacts and it works along side it so I don’t necessarily need to switch right away:

Contacts

Calendars

I need to play a little more before I make a “switch” decision but it apparently supports a number of different devices including:

  • iPhone (2.2)
  • BlackBerry
  • Nokia S60
  • Nokia standard
  • Sony Ericsson
  • Windows Mobile

so it might also be a great way for small business to sync employees without the cost of an in-house exchange server.
