Android 2.0 Source Released

While we’ve all been having fun comparing Android and iPhone, all the underlying open source OS code has been MIA–until today.

Google pushed the source for Android 2.0 to the Android Open Source Project last night and as we should expect, the Android development community had it running on G1 devices faster than you can say T-Mobile.

According to leading Android “hacker” Cyanogen, everything is running “really well, fast and smooth”. At the moment, the only thing not really working properly is audio/video playback.

I can’t wait until they’ve worked out all the kinks for the various devices and I can get it running on one of my Google I/O dev phones (we have a couple). I’ll post pics once I do.
