AT&T Apps Beta Program

AT&T is now offering developers an opportunity to beta test their mobile apps with real AT&T customers through the App Beta Program. The program is a two way opt-in where developers must submit their apps to the program and AT&T customers must sign up to be able to test apps.

Both developers and customers can sign up for free but eligible apps must work on at least three of the following devices (unless the app is targeted specifically for BlackBerry, Windows or GPS only):

  • RIM BlackBerry Bold (9000)
  • RIM BlackBerry Curve (8310)
  • LG Shine (CU720)
  • Motorola RAZR (V3xx)
  • Motorola V9x
  • Motorola Z9n
  • Nokia 6650
  • Pantech Matrix C740
  • Samsung A737
  • Samsung Propel (A767)
  • Samsung Eternity (A867)
  • Sony Ericsson 580i

If apps are successful in the beta program, they will have the opportunity to graduate to AT&T MEdia Mall.

This looks like a good opportunity for developers to get real feedback and testing from real users in an environment where the users will understand the app is a beta to test. AT&T customer who opt-in to the program are most likely heavy users and will be able to offer useful feedback for app improvement.
